New version of SABRE DAC 2 / UAE23+
We’ll help you celebrating christmas with the new version of our externally powered Sabre dac. We have included a headphone amp in this new version, and made it fit the same box as the UD20 amplifier uses.
The volume knob controls the headphone out only, so the direct line out on the back is not affected by this pot. The volume can still be adjusted with volume hotkeys on the computer.

Because here => http://hifimediy.com/DACs/ready-made-dacs/usb-dac2 it seems that it can be bought “asynchronous” as an available option – for $9.99.
It’s not clear!

I have some Sennheiser Momentum headphones. Is this product a good match? If not, is there a hifimediy headphone amp/Sabre DAC product which is a good match?

What op amps does the amplifier section use in conjunction with TPA6138? TPA613x series chips aren’t powerful enough to drive demanding headphones by itself, and isn’t suitable for a desktop amp if used by itself, right? Or is TPA6138 a variation of the chip that I’m not aware of…
It will drive many headphones, but you’re right that it’s not powerful enough for all headphones.
What headphone amplifier that is embedded? Opamp based? Which opamp?

Hi, we are considering a asynchronous version, but cannot say exactly when we would have it ready.
I now own 4 DAC (2 are hifime and the best sounding) and would like my next to be asynchronous.
The DAC2 looks great. Can we expect an async version anytime soon?

No, it uses adaptive USB transfer.
Good news, but why not asynchronous USB reciver mode?
Will the http://hifimediy.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=61&product_id=108 give better sound than the 12V DC adapter? I have ordered a 12V DC adapter and this DAC. I’m looking forward to getting it as it is my first DAC. Though I’m considering adding the PSU to my order if it’ll give better sound.
